Being GENUINE is something that has always been important to me. Cultivating genuine connections, giving genuine (sometimes awkward and often random) compliments - I am that person walking down that street that stops complete strangers to tell them I love their hair or outfit LOL hashtag
#sorrynotsorry - and perhaps most important, in my opinion, genuinely rooting for others to win.
Those of you who have worked with me in some capacity over the last 9+ years, have likely heard me talk about "Feely Friday," but might not know where it came from, so here's the story.
Once upon a time, there were two Independent Contractors working together, but in different provinces trying to build a business together that spanned the country. (Spoiler Alert: it was Annabelle Cormack CDFC and I) Each had been in leadership roles working with large teams most of their careers and, although they were still part of a very small team together, found themselves longing somewhat for the cultures they had created over the years in their other businesses where they would publically celebrate wins and recognize performance. And so, "Feely Friday" was born.
At the end of each week, the two entrepreneurs would connect for a call on Fridays to celebrate the wins they had that week. Sometimes that meant helping each other to SEE the wins they had achieved and recognize them for a job well done when they were unable to do so themselves. Something that I look back on now and realize was incredibly important and a piece that sadly many solopreneurs miss out on when they are building their business alone.
Over the years, I have tried to find ways to include "Feely Friday" in my conversations with Candidates and Clients as well; to recognize them for their efforts, celebrate their success or even to simply offer support and encouragement during a difficult time.
As we embark on our 10th year in business at Cormack Recruitment & HR Experts, I think it's the perfect time to share this initiative with the world. Because EVERYONE deserves a little recognition now and then. Everyone needs to hear they are doing a good job from time to time, and what better way to wrap up the work week, than with some positivity and good vibes?! ✨
Be sure to follow me on LinkedIn as I share my Feely Friday moments with the world every week.
Sincerely,
